Halloween Book Tag!

Greetings fellow Book Dragons!

Halloween is upon us!  To celebrate I wanted to do the Halloween Book Tag, created by Naomi the Book Lover.  I wasn't tagged by anyone, but I loved the idea and thought it would be fun as another way to celebrate the day!

So on to the questions!

1.  Carving Pumpkins - What book would you carve up and light on fire?

He Killed Them All by Jeanine Pirro

This is perhaps the worst true crime book I have ever read.  I'm not even going to waste time discussing how bad because both you and I have far better ways to spend our time.  The case of Robert Durst is very interesting, so watch the show Jinx or even the All Good Things starring Ryan Gosling Jr.  You're time will have been much better served!  But let's just say that if you are a fan of her show on Fox News, this book told me that she certainly doesn't write those scathing opening statements, but whoever does should have written this book!

2.  Trick or Treat - What character is a treat?  What character is a trick?

Tamlin and Rhysand from the A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas

Both of these characters could be considered tricks and treats, but not without their reasons.  What you thought about each of them in Book 1 is not how you will end up feeling about them as Book 2 ends.  The series is nowhere near over, so I have no idea if this will continue to change, but it makes for some very interesting reading!

3.  Candy Corn - What book is always sweet?

To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han

Everything about this book is the embodiment of sweetness!  From the relationship between the sisters and their father to the fact that Lara Jean even enjoys making baked goods!  This is one of my favorite young adult contemporaries and an incredibly adorable read.

4.  Ghosts - What character would you love to visit you as a ghost?

Daniel from My Name is Memory by Ann Brashares

Daniel has the ability to recall past lives and he has spent centuries falling in love with the same woman.  Despite her changing form and name, they continue to be drawn together, but sometimes painfully ripped apart - and he remembers it all.  I loved the idea of having that kind of an intense love for another that you would continually find the other person to somehow figure out how to ultimately spend a lifetime together.  His ghostly presence would remind me that true love finds a way to reconnect even in the afterlife, which I find comforting.

5.  Dressing up in Costume - What character would you want to be for a day?

Lindsey from The Library Lover's Mystery series by Jenn McKinlay

Prior to staying at home and raising my two boys, I worked full-time as a librarian, and every once in a while I miss being in the library.  One day, I'll get back to it hopefully, but for now, I enjoy these little cozy mysteries!

6.  Wizards and Witches - What is your favorite Harry Potter moment?

I think for me it was after Harry, Ron, and Hermione fight the troll in the first book, they develop a bond that solidifies their Golden trio.  Before that moment, the boys seemed unsure about Hermione's place, but the final quote after that battle says it all:  "There are some things you can't share without ending up liking each other, and knocking out a twelve-foot mountain troll is one of them."

7.  Blood and Gore - What book was so creepy you had to take a break from it for a while?

The Evil that Men Do by Stephen G. Michaud and Roy Hazelwood

I like reading about true crime and serial killers, but there were some parts in this one that it was hard to get through.  Roy Hazelwood's work in the FBI helped law enforcement in understanding sexual predators, but there was a lot of extreme detail and information, especially as he began detailing his work with auto-erotic asphyiaxition and crime scene scenarios that I just had to take a break as it just became way too overwhelming.

Wow...ok...what a way to end this!

I hope you enjoyed this tag and please leave your answers down below.

My family and I will be dressed up as the Mystery Inc. gang and have a packed day of events in our community.  I just wish it wasn't still so hot!  Do you dress up for Halloween?  Share some pictures in the comments!  Happy Halloween!  Stay safe and have fun!
